Delta Air Lines flight attendants officially began their historic election campaign today to join the Association of Flight Attendants, AFL-CIO, when they filed a petition with the National Mediation Board requesting that a vote be held. The 20,000 Delta flight attendants are the last non-union flight attendant workforce at a major U.S. airline.

This election will be the largest ever in the airline industry and the single largest private-sector organizing effort since the 1960's.
