Sharp strategy reduces unrecyclable waste level to 0.5%.

Sharp Corporation has hailed the success of its recycling plan after the company was able to reduce the amount of waste that could not be recycled to less than 0.5% by volume of waste from all its sites during April and May 2001.

The company has successfully raised the ratios of recycled resources such as used papers, plastics, sludge (drainage), and recycled liquid-crystal panels. The ratio of wastes not recycled, known as final disposal, was 87% in 1991, so the recent percentage illustrates the dramatic reduction achieved over the past 10 years.
