Slashing lead times with Quick Response
While there are many well-known roads that lead to just-in-time (JIT), the road taken by textile manufacturer Milliken & Co. is much less traveled. But don't expect that to be the case for long.
Milliken is on the road of Quick Response, a strategy which promises to significantly shorten the pipeline between manufacturers and retailers. By using bar codes and electronic data interchange (EDI), Quick Response has the potential to dramatically slash warehousing requirements and cut production order turnaround time by several weeks - much like JIT.
