A man from Azerbaijan has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of attempted hijacking and terrorism.
Mekhti Guseinli seized control of an Azerbaijan Airlines domestic flight in August 2000. He demanded that the aircraft be flown to Turkey and threatened to set himself on fire but was overpowered by a security agent on board.
