The Air Force Smart Tempest Program
The Air Force has had an active Tempest program for more than 20 years. However, from its earliest days the national Tempest policy fostered the serious misconception that Tempest was a "mysterious" security discipline that required expensive solutions to provide protection. Thus, rarely did anyone challenge high-cost Tempest recommendations. Additionally, and mainly because of these high costs, Tempest was ignored in many instances.
