"The subject line is your most valuable bit of e-mail real estate. No matter how wonderful the content of your message, if the subject line doesn't grab your readers' attention, they'll never open the mail. Here's how to put together a subject line that works."

* Keep it brief. Five to 10 words, or less than 35 characters, is plenty.
* Be specific. Don't mislead anyone with your subject line.
* Tease your readers. Try to leave them wanting to know more.
* Stress benefits. There ...
