A LAWSUIT filed against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by the state of California argues that the agency ignored scientific evidence that reformulated gasoline (RFG) does not need oxygenated additives to meet federal clean air standards.
The suit, filed in the Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, follows EPA's denial in June of California's petition to waive a Clean Air Act requirement that RFG contain at least 2 percent oxygen.
An EPA spokeswoman says the agency would have no comment on the litigation.
