Robert Half, founder of Robert Half International Inc., the world's first and largest specialized staffing firm, died yesterday in Palm Beach, Fla., after an extended illness. He was 82.

Half was a respected and honored member of the staffing industry and was widely credited with pioneering the concept of specialized staffing when he launched the Robert Half Personnel Agency with his wife, Maxine, in 1948. It was the first firm dedicated exclusively to the placement of accounting and finance professionals, and grew into a successful franchise business over the next 38 years.
