A ROW has erupted among the board members of Deutsche Telekom over whether to oust Ron Sommer, the company's chairman and chief executive.

Banking sources in Frankfurt say that Sommer has the confidence of only the slenderest majority of management board members and the departure of one of his supporters could force him out.

The revelation comes after Sommer was last week summoned to the German finance ministry for crisis talks with Hans Eichel, the finance minster.
