RADIO 2 veteran Jimmy Young has told of his fears that his bosses may be planning to sack him.
The 78-year-old broadcaster was reacting to speculation that he is going to be replaced by a younger, fresher face, such as Radio 5's Nicky Campbell or John Inverdale.
He said the BBC was dragging its feet about renegotiating his contract, which runs out in March, and admitted to hearing whispers that his time was up.
However, a BBC spokesman said the idea that the corporation might force him out was 'complete nonsense'.
