Mexico City's undersecretary of finance has warned 11 major companies that if they do not pay back the 100 million pesos (US$10.86 million) they owe in taxes, they could have their goods confiscated in order to cover their debts. The 11 companies include a branch of Sears, the U.S. retail giant and Gigante, the local super market chain. The 11 businesses were informed that if they immediately paid their tax debts, they would receive a 60% discount in fines and tax processing fees, according to the Reforma.
