PROJECT OVERVIEW:
A Japanese/Thai joint venture, operating under the name of UNION POWER DEVELOPMENT CO. (UPDC), led by Japan-based TOMEN CORP. will be shortly established in view of building a new coal-fired power plant in Thailand. Construction plans under consideration call for building a complex with an installed generating capacity of 1,400 Mw. The new facility will reportedly be the world's largest independent power station.
The other partners in the planned undertaking include CHABU ELECTRIC POWER CO. and TOYOTA TSUSHO CORP. of Japan and the local SAHA UNION GROUP. In so doing, the project is to be implemented on the basis of a build-operate ...
