Collect the scales
from two northern Michigan walleye,
capture a June bug in May,
pick out ten fossils of different colors
and mix them all with birch bark,
bee wings, rose petals, wild ferns,
and the chopped up feathers
from a mourning dove.
Pour this potion
at your doorstep and wait.
Nothing will happen,
but it will keep you busy for awhile.
The real trick is to stop caring
about love or romance or attraction.
Close your eyes and turn your brain back
to the year before you ever held hands,
or wanted to. Stop looking
for Mr. or Miss Right and accept
everything at face ...
