Flawed arguments against public prayer

Theodore Utchen of Wheaton missed the same point that so many other people miss when they complain about opening public meetings with prayer.

He repeatedly suggested that public officials pray individually, in isolation, before public meetings. The entire point of opening prayers is the chance for the community to pray together.

There are times for individual prayer and times for prayer together.

When we gather together to do the people's business, praying together is entirely appropriate. Should we celebrate our independence, honor our veterans or remember our fallen soldiers by ourselves, ...
