THREE American conductors are now taking charge of British orchestras - Gerard Schwartz in Liverpool, Felix Slatkin at the BBC Symphony and Marin Alsop in Bournemouth - so we can expect American Music to take a higher profile in this country over the coming years.
This trend is already apparent in the American Classic series Naxos, to which Ms Alsop has been contributing. Her second CD with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra of works by Samuel Barber includes the Celle Concerto of 1945 played by a Rostropovitch discovery, Wendy Warner.
