The Northeast Interstate Dairy Compact is set to expire Sept. 30, and hordes of lobbyists representing big-money special interests are working overtime to block its renewal. Congress must do the right thing, the courageous thing, for Northeastern dairy farmers and consumers. The compact should be renewed and expanded to include all of New York's dairy farmers.
Testifying before a Senate committee last month, Gov. George Pataki made an eloquent case on behalf New York's farmers.
