In late June, the Syracuse SkyChiefs' 2001 season became a whole lot brighter.***"Neon" Deion Sanders, one of the most famous and controversial athletes in professional sports, joined the Triple-A SkyChiefs June 29 after signing with the Toronto Blue Jays as a free agent.
Although Sanders' stay was a short one - he left in late July - this season will forever be remembered as the one in which Deion "Prime Time" Sanders played for the SkyChiefs.
"He is, without a doubt, the biggest name to ever play for the Syracuse franchise," said longtime Syracuse baseball historian Ron Gersbacher.
