Roger Maris Jr. can relate to Barry Bonds. He believes his father would've, too.
"He's a guy who guards his privacy," Roger Jr. said. "They have a lot in common as far as not wanting to deal with the press all the time."
Roger Maris wasn't embraced by the public while pursuing Babe Ruth's single-season home-run record in 1961. Many felt fellow Yankee Mickey Mantle was the rightful heir to the throne.
Forty years later, Bonds isn't being embraced, either, but for different reasons.
