Proficiency in performances of fundamental motor skills (FMS) has been considered an underlining factor for success of more complex movements used in aquatic, dance, games, and sports (Wickstrom, 1982). Included in FMS have been object control and locomotor skills (Gallahue, 1989). Development of these skills has been defined as an area of physical education required for children with disabilities since enactment of Pubic Law 94-142 in 1975 (Public Law 101-476 in 1990; Sherrill, 1998).
