Steel targets are an agreeable lot on average. You can set them up and knock them down all day long and never hear a complaint out of them, just that satisfying "boing" when your shot strikes home. Catch one on a bad day, however, and that innocuous hunk of steel is liable to turn on you and throw that well-aimed cast slug right back in your face. Those in the action shooting sports know this. That is why safety glasses are mandatory. The risks are not high and you're more likely to get hurt playing a game of touch football in the backyard. But if you shoot steel long enough, chances are, sooner or later, you'll get bit by a bounce-back.
