Saying it needs to be at a more visible location after 10 years in a Gurnee strip mall, the Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau is heading west toward Six Flags Great America and Interstate 94.
That move is being applauded by some Gurnee officials who are questioning if the village is getting its money's worth from the bureau. The village is expected to contribute $154,000 to the Convention and Visitors Bureau this year.
The critics say the planned Sept. 18 opening in Spruce Park office complex, just west of Great America at 5455 Grand Ave., is a good step.
