King Mohammed VI marked the second anniversary of his accession to the throne with a flurry of new appointments to key security and administrative posts. His 30 July Throne Day speech was also remarkable for its warm overtures towards the country's Berber population.
The changes included moving Driss Benhima from state power monopoly Office National de l'Electricite (ONE) to the post of governor of the Casablanca financial district. He was replaced at the helm of ONE by Ahmed Nakkouche who had previously been in charge of industrial and financial development at the power company.
