DALLAS _ Donnie Knight was one of the lucky ones. The Dallas resident was able to reach his aunt in lower Manhattan by phone and assure her safety Tuesday morning.
After calling other family members with the good news, he met his friend John Hickman at Reunion Arena, where they and hundreds of others waited up to four hours to donate blood.
"It's just surreal that this is happening," Knight said.
You walked into Reunion Arena on Tuesday afternoon, and it was, indeed, surreal. While workers tacked down the carpet and laid the stripes for a Thursday Sidekicks game that may not be played, hundreds of Dallas-area residents sat in the west stands ...
