An Exercise in Creative Typography

People that study the history of typography are always intrigued by the specimen sheets that were used to advertise type. These important documents--allowing consumers to examine what a foundry had for sale--featured upper- and lowercase letters, accented characters, ligatures, numerals and punctuation, as well as decorative arabesques and printer's flowers (??), which were originally used in handwritten manuscripts to fill in the balance of a line.
