HERITAGE URGES LIMIT ON STATE DEPARTMENT ROLE IN ARMS CONTROL.

The State Department's heavy involvement in arms control is detrimental to U.S. national security according to two Heritage Foundation analysts.

Heritage's Baker Springs and Michael Lind charged that the State Department decisions seem to lean toward improving foreign relations rather than maintaining U.S. national security. They charged that the State Department uses its power to follow its "institutional tendencies toward accommodation and compromise."
