Sep. 12--When Michael Korte woke up early today , Tuesday's events in New York seemed like a nightmare.
The Fort Wayne native will never forget the sound of the first plane crashing into the World Trade Center, the image of fire when the second plane hit, or the screams of people watching men and women jump out of the burning towers.
He'll never forget the blank, lifeless looks of people who emerged from the plume of smoke and ash after the building collapsed. "It was like they met the devil and survived," he said.
