Last month, Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., wrote an open letter to Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Charles Rossotti about tax returns missing from a drop box in Pittsburgh.
The lost returns concern Upstate New Yorkers who file to Pittsburgh instead of to Andover, Mass.
The root of Schumer's complaint had less to do with the mix-up and more to do with the fact that the lost returns contain sensitive and private information, such as Social Security and bank account numbers.
