Sep. 16--In my youth, home networking took place around the dining table, and we passed data along with the mashed potatoes.
Important network messages -- about the need to borrow the family car, for example -- were met with high-priority replies from my father, expressing a sincere desire I mow the lawn. All this traffic moved flawlessly across the dining table network. No wiring was required, just occasional refills of iced tea.
