As he waited for the more than 400 mourners to pass, a truck driver climbed down from the cab of his truck and stood at attention, his hand over this heart.

Behind him traffic backed up on Route 64 in St. Charles, but no one hit his horn or shouted.

The mourners were on their way to drop flowers into the Fox River to remember the victims of Tuesday's tragedy. They moved slowly with many pausing to pray on the bridge, wiping tears from their eyes.

The ceremony began at noon Friday at city hall with the ringing of bells and a moment of silence.
