WASHINGTON _ It may seem like Goliath trampling David, high-tech against no-tech, but the United States may learn shortly why British and Russian invaders rue the day they attacked Afghanistan.
A U.S. military assault is virtually certain if the ruling Taliban regime in Afghanistan refuses to hand over terror mastermind Osama bin Laden.
The assault is unlikely to be a ground war involving thousands of infantry. Instead, most military analysts expect the operation would involve commandos supported by air bombardment and ship-launched Tomahawk missiles.
