ELLIS COLLECTION SHIFTS TO ELLIS INTERNATIONAL
NEW YORK -- Perry Ellis International will take over the business of the Perry Ellis women's collection, Robert McDonald, chairman, said at the weekend, following the announcement by Salant Corp. that it was getting out of the designer end of the Ellis women's business.
Ellis International, the licensing company started by the late Perry Ellis, owns the Ellis trademark, and Salant had been producing the women's lines under license. Salant acquired its Ellis operations in its takeover last year of Manhattan Industries, Inc., which originally developed the Ellis women's collection.
