With memos, meetings and email competing for my thoughts, I force myself to concentrate on the short but busy freeway and urban slog from Rider's well-lit but train-shaken offices in Ventura, California. My favorite ride begins about 17 miles away at the intersection of El Roblar Drive and Highway 33 in Ojai, and by the time I reach it my head has cleared. This isn't the best loop for low-slung cruisers, so at this point the sporty bike I'm probably riding may be coaxed into a wheelie (if there aren't any non-riders around to witness my political incorrectness).
