The 45,400-circulation Santa Barbara News-Press on Southern California's coast is being sold to Ampersand Holdings LLC, a two-year-old privately-held company that invests in "well-managed assets that make significant contributions to the communities in which they operate," according to an Ampersand profile of its founder, Wendy McCaw. For 13 years, she's had a residence in Santa Barbara, which is also home to the environment-oriented Wendy P. McCaw Foundation.
