"Our intent is nothing more than an attempt to correct the historical records," the authors modestly write in the introduction to "Last Chance for Victory." This is a formidable task, considering that 138 years have passed since the Battle of Gettysburg, and that hundreds of books have already been published on the subject. Undeterred, they have produced an encyclopedic work that challenges many of the previously held "facts" about the great battle, and why the South lost it.
