A new fishing organization, the Madison Area Spoonpluggers, is holding an organizational meeting Thursday.
Spoonplugging has been a technique used by anglers for over 50 years. It was developed by Buck Perry, an engineering professor from North Carolina who theorized that large fish often are in deep water, and thus harder to catch.
Clay Russell, member and past-president of the Yahara Fishing Club, said the club will study the technique of spoonplugging and help fishermen use it on area lakes.
