Jamie Foxx was born on Dec. 13, 1967, in tiny Terrell, Texas, about 30 miles outside Dallas.
''I think everyone should grow up in Terrell or somewhere like that,'' Foxx says. ''The reason being small towns still have values. They still have a sense of morals.''
Growing up in Terrell, people knew him as Eric Bishop, the football player, church musician and charmer.
