Imagine a crowd of people standing shoulder to shoulder, forming an arch around a famous Van Gogh or Gauguin painting -"The Starry Night," maybe or "Vision of the Sermon."
Peek through the crowd and in the center of the semicircle of people stands a child, not much older than 6 or 7.
"Gee, Mommy," the child says, "what do you think Van Gogh was feeling when he painted this? The swirling brush strokes make me dizzy - I feel like I'm flying though space."
A bit surreal sounding, maybe, but it's just the scene that Glen Ellyn artist and children's book author Mike Venezia would like to see ...
