WASHINGTON _ A senior U.S. Defense Department intelligence analyst was arrested Friday on charges of conspiring to provide sensitive U.S. national defense information to Cuba, the Justice Department said.
Ana Belen Montes, 44, an employee of the Defense Intelligence Agency, was arrested at the agency's headquarters at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, according to a 20-page criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court. The FBI said it also has obtained search warrants for her Washington home, car, office and a safe-deposit box at a local bank.
The alleged spying was just the latest chapter in the hostile relationship between Washington and Havana. ...
