LA CROSSE -- The federal government wants all manufactured homes out of a recreational vehicle park and campground along the Mississippi River because they may violate the local flood plain law.
La Crosse could lose its flood rating -- meaning higher insurance rates -- if it doesn't fix the problem at Pettibone Resort RV Park and Campground, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said in a letter Sept. 14 to Mayor John Medinger.
The 864 residents with flood insurance could pay nearly $20,000 more in premiums.
