RAILROAD COMMISSION APPROVES ORYX REQUEST FOR SPECIAL RULES ON

HORIZONTAL DRILLING

DALLAS, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Texas Railroad Commission has approved a request by Oryx Energy Company for special field rules on horizontally drilled wells in the Pearsall Field (Austin Chalk) in South Texas.

The new field rules provide for larger well spacing and higher allowables based on horizontal wellbore length. Although the Commission made minor technical changes in the Oryx Energy proposal, most of the Dallas-based independent's wells will qualify for a maximum allowable of 1,312 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) on 320-acre or ...
