Sep. 23--ANACONDA, Mont.--Before 1900, Copper King Marcus Daly chose Anaconda as the site for his smelter because of abundant sup ply of water in the Silver Lake watershed.
A century later, confusion over how Butte acquired "Anaconda's water" from the Silver Lake distribution system is still a source of irritation among townsfolk.
To many locals, it seems clear that the water should belong to the town and the people who live there, especially since Warm Springs Creek is a part of the local land scape, flowing from lake and handily weaving its way past homes and ...
