TV MOTORMOUTH Jeremy Clarkson once joked that when he told people he suffered from insomnia they were guaranteed to boast about how they slept like a baby.
But if someone was blind, he reasoned, you wouldn't dream of telling them all about your perfect vision.
Sadly, Mr Clarkson is not alone in his nocturnal torment - new figures suggest that sleep problems affect up to a quarter of the population at any one time.
