OAKLAND, Calif. _ He started two American League Division Series games last season, but Gil Heredia is a huge question mark for the A's playoff roster this season.
Heredia, who is 7-8 with a 5.58 ERA this season, has been relegated to the bullpen and pitched just six times in the past two months. He does not know when he will pitch again and likely is to see little action in the next two weeks as the A's prepare for the playoffs.
It hasn't helped Heredia's case that the team has played so well without his participation. Erik Hiljus, although not sparkling, is 4-0 with a 3.57 ERA as his replacement in the starting rotation.
