Jerry Lohr has come a long way from the South Dakota farm where he was born. He has earned a master's in science from Stanford University, has been a research scientist at the NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, and he developed and owns J. Lohr Properties, which develops land and builds custom homes, condominiums and townhouses. And, oh yes, he owns thousands of acres of vineyards on the Central Coast and in Napa.
But after talking with Lohr, I suspect that whatever he has done, some part of growing up on a farm has stayed with him. The first thing he talked about during a lunch interview in San Francisco was sustainable agriculture. Not how many gold ...
