One message of Yom Kippur, the Jewish "Day of Atonement" that begins at sundown today is that God had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., a Madison Jewish leader asserts.
The attacks were evidence neither of God's withholding his protection because of America's toleration of liberal social programs -- as radio evangelists Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson said recently -- nor evidence of his wrath at American's toleration of world poverty, said Steven Morrison, executive director of the Madison Jewish Community Council said.
