CDR Special Report--American Drug Stores is the nation's No. 2 drug chain in sales, No. 10 in stores.
The chain operates 665 drug stores in 27 states under both the Osco and Sav-on banners. Roughly two-thirds of that total bear the Osco name, while the Sav-on banner is flown in over 225 stores in California. American Drug Stores is a dominant player in markets throughout the country. It is the market leader in Phoenix, Kansas City, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas; it holds down the No. 2 spot in five others.
