Vernon Hills High School senior Michael Tatz hopes to spend a religious holiday without the stress of missing out on school activities.
If Tatz has his wish, Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 students could stay home for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur next school year.
School board members have directed the administration to consider making the two religious holidays districtwide "non- attendance days."
Should that happen, all district students will have a day off on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, just like on Good Friday.
