NEW GM MEDIUM-DUTY TRUCKS COME OFF LINE

JANESVILLE, Wis., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The first of General Motors' new GMC TopKick and Chevrolet Kodiak medium-duty trucks for the 1990s came off the assembly line today at the Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac Group's Lansing Automotive Division Janesville plant.

At the same time, officials from GM's Truck & Bus Group and B-O-C Lansing Automotive Division said that production of the new trucks will begin on one shift, with the second shift delayed until January.

Officials said delay of the second shift reflects a recent downturn in the total medium-duty business which has forced other manufacturers ...
