Bulbs are miraculous, almost foolproof additions to the garden.
You dig a hole, drop in some golf ball-sized thingies, cover 'em with soil and add water. Next spring, the garden is bursting with colorful flowers.
But simple as they are, some gardeners don't get the best from their bulbs. If you're one of them, check this list before planting.
- BUYING: Always choose top-sized bulbs. They're more expensive, but worth every penny. The biggest, healthiest bulbs will reward you with larger blossoms and stronger roots and foliage.
When choosing bulbs, avoid any that are squishy, moldy or feel light and dried out. Bulbs without top growth ...
