Representing several religious faiths, 275 shareholders of Abbott Laboratories are demanding the international medical device company keep them informed of research that claims polyvinyl chloride plastic (PVC) is a health risk.
Tightening their demand, the religious investors, who are members of the Interfaith Center for Corporate Responsibility (ICCR), have asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to direct Abbott to accept a shareholder resolution in a 2002 vote seeking an end to producing PVC-containing products.
